QOwnNotes

I was browing my RSS feeds when I came across some really cool links in a monthly link posting someone had posted. I realized that I really don't have a good system for saving such things, and my own efforts with this site and DokuWiki weren't cutting it. Don't get me wrong, DokuWiki is an amazing piece of software, but I was iffy about learning another text-note format besides LaTeX and Markdown. My own system using retext and local links was also lacking...

I decided to Google for Linux options for "mind mapping software". That was clearly not what I was looking for. My search did, however, lead me to Zim and Joplin desktop wikis when I looked for OneNote alternatives. Neither was good, but a reddit post comparing them to QOwnNotes has led me to my new favourite toy. It's far too late and I'm too new to the software to do it justice, but I can say that this is something I've wanted for several months now.

Hongdian Black Forest

I needed to buy a double-sided USB-A cable (don't ask) and came roughly one-fountain-pen-price short of the required 25$ for free Amazon shipping. Rather than waste the money on shipping, I bought a Hongdian Black Forest pen. I've wanted one for a while now but could never justify buying only it off Amazon.

I currently have it inked with Noodler's American Aristocracy, but I'd really love to get some Diamine Wine Divine. I found a sample from a grab-bag and inked it as soon as I realized it was a shimmer ink. Burgundy and metallic gold are a perfect combination of colours (and remind me of the best grim-reaper vtuber).
